Snoring (or THYME for Sleep)

night
I’d been using essential oils for several months when it occurred to me to check the Essential Oils Desk Reference for a solution to my husband’s snoring. THYME oil was recommended and since I already had a bottle in my Raindrop Treatment kit, I brought it to the bedroom and Voila! A drop on the bottom of each foot at bedtime and his snoring was under control.
It’s always difficult to make a one-to-one correspondence between changes in our lives and changes in our health. Maybe it was a coincidence? But a few months later we were spending the night out of town. As soon as my husband slipped off to sleep I realized we’d forgotten to bring the Thyme. Once home, the snoring stopped.
I told a friend about this and she bought a bottle of Young Living Thyme essential oil (I cannot recommend any other brand) for her parents. She reported back that it did the trick on her Dad’s snoring. But the proof came a few weeks ago when they were visiting her without their oil. She contacted me right away and asked if she could borrow a few drops—her mom couldn’t cope with another sleepless night.
Snoring is such a simple and seemingly small problem, but those who’ve lost sleep over it know it ranks high on the list of priorities. I can’t guarantee Thyme will cure all snoring since each individual body is different, but a $45 15 ml bottle holds around 250 drops. That’s a lot of nights of peaceful sleep.
Here’s some other uses for Thyme essential oil: Historically, thyme was used by the Egyptians for embalming, and by the ancient Greeks to help with infectious illnesses. Thyme was also used for respiratory problems and digestive complaints. Thyme oil is used today for its anti-viral and antiseptic properties, and is often used to combat flu and colds, and as an aid to circulation and the respiratory and digestive system. Thyme’s fresh, herbaceous aroma is said to be uplifting and stimulating during times of depression, and is thought to aid concentration. Thyme blends well with citrus oils, cedarwood, melaleuca, oregano, and rosemary.
